Donald W. Mitchell is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy. He has specialized in Buddhist philosophy and the contemporary dialogue between Buddhism and Christianity. He is the author of Buddhism: Introducing the Buddhist Experience (Oxford University Press, 2002) and has authored or edited five books and numerous articles on Buddhist-Christian dialogue. He is one of the founding members of the Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies and associate editor of its journal. Recently, he has been using his experience in interreligious relations to establish and direct the Indiana Center for Cultural Exchange which will sponsor projects of cooperation between the United States and the Muslim world. He has been responsible for courses on Asian religions and teaches an introductory course on Religions of the East, an intermediary course on Buddhism, and advanced/graduate courses on Indian and East Asian religions.
